The project that resulted in the drama serial Corrections gave me the chance to work with a truly unique group of collaborators: inmates of the maximum-security Donaldson Correctional Facility.
In the spirit and image of Bodylove, this series dramatizes the health concerns of these inmates, ranging from diabetes to Hepatitis C to senile dementia. The brainchild of my friend and colleague Dr. Connie Kohler, the project had us visiting a group of the inmates and working with them to select and guide the storylines they wanted to pursue. With a little extra crafting from yours truly, the result was a radio script that could be performed by these inmates themselves, under the direction of another friend and colleague, Dennis McLernon.
The result is something truly remarkable.
